Our client, Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI), has an exciting in-office opportunity in Sidney, BC, for an experienced, dynamic and creative Events and Marketing Coordinator. Reporting to the Director, Projects and Stakeholder Relations, you will support the planning and delivery of organizational events while developing and implementing marketing strategies that promote programs, initiatives and community engagement.

The Events and Marketing Coordinator Role:
As the Events and Marketing Coordinator you will be responsible for coordinating annual event logistics, managing promotional campaigns, and creating marketing and graphic design materials to support brand visibility and participation. Working collaboratively with internal teams, vendors, sponsors, and community partners, the Events and Marketing Coordinator helps ensure delivery of successful events, effective outreach, and consistent communication across digital and print platforms.
What this position offers you:
- A highly competitive salary $60,300 – $68,850 per year (commensurate with related experience)
- A 35-hour work week – Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities include:
Event Planning and Coordination
- Assist with planning and execute delivery of organizational events
- Source and manage vendors, suppliers, and service providers
- Organize sponsors, partners, and community stakeholders
- Coordinate venues, vendors, catering, registration, speakers, and event logistics
- Assist with development of event timelines, budgets, and operational plans as required
- Support negotiation of contracts
Marketing and Promotion
- Development of marketing strategies to promote events, programs, and initiatives
- Create marketing materials including newsletters, digital content, event promotions
- Coordinate promotional campaigns throughout social media, website and membership correspondence (emails)
- Responsible for drafting, editing, and distributing monthly newsletters
- Support public relations and communication efforts related to Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI)
Graphic Design and Visual Communications
- Design engaging visuals including event promotional materials, social media graphics, digital advertisements, posters, presentations, ensuring visual branding aligns with organizational identity and enhances marketing effectiveness
Community Involvement
- Maintain strong relationships with community partners, sponsors, stakeholders, and local organizations
- Identify opportunities for collaboration, community participation, and outreach initiatives that strengthen presence and impact
General Administration
- Monitor event budgets and marketing expenditures
- Track invoices, sponsorship revenue related to events
- Maintain records, event documentation, and marketing assets
- Conduct post-event evaluations, collecting participant feedback if required
- Track marketing metrics, such as engagement, attendance and reach
- Provide reports and recommendations to leadership on event and marketing performance and statistics
The Events and Marketing Coordinator we are looking for brings:
- 3-5 years of experience in event planning, marketing coordination, or communications, and non-profit and marine industry experience is an asset
- Prior experience coordinating corporate, community, or non-profit events
- Experience managing marketing and promotional campaigns and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Proven experience designing marketing materials
- Knowledge of digital analytics tools and marketing metrics
- Proficiency with Office 365, virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable
- Ability to attend local events and candidates must have their own transportation
