This position is ideal for a motivated, dependable individual who takes pride in keeping systems and spaces functioning, especially when those systems are solar-powered and the spaces are nestled deep in the traditional territory of the Kwiakah First Nation.

What You’ll Do:

As Site Technician, you’ll be responsible for supporting the daily operations of a remote, off-grid work Field Station. You’ll work closely with the Site Manager to keep the infrastructure safe, clean, and functional, and step in to help oversee site operations in their absence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing general site maintenance, basic repairs, and equipment upkeep
  • Operating and maintaining off-grid systems including solar power, water, and generators
  • Keeping shared spaces clean, organized, and welcoming
  • Supporting supply logistics, loading/unloading equipment and materials
  • Upholding safety protocols and reporting maintenance issues promptly
  • Interacting with visitors and resource users in a respectful, professional manner
  • Pitching in as needed to help the Field Station run smoothly

What Kwiakah First Nation Offers:

What You’ll Bring:

  • High School diploma or GED and at least 1–2 years’ general work experience
  • Experience working in remote, off-grid, or outdoor settings is a strong asset
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and maintenance work
  • Physical stamina and a positive, team-oriented mindset
  • Comfort working independently in rugged, isolated environments
  • Respect for Indigenous values, territory, and environmental stewardship
  • Boating experience and familiarity with the Kwiakah First Nation territory are definite assets.

Additional Requirements:

  • This is a rotating schedule position based at a remote 24/7 Field Station in Phillips Arm
  • The site is accessible only by boat. Transportation to/from Campbell River is provided
  • Weather and terrain can be unpredictable, so adaptability and resilience are key
  • Overnight and extended stays at the Field Station are part of the role
