What could your day as Senior Manager hold?
- Overseeing client engagement for a diverse portfolio, ensuring client needs are met in the areas of planning, compliance, and achieving future objectives, with a focus on maintaining strong client relationships.
- Supporting Partners and Principals with complex accounting and tax matters, including troubleshooting and responding to client issues, as well as managing high-level inquiries such as client reorganizations, business sales, and estate planning.
- Reviewing Compilation and Review Engagements in accordance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards.
- Reviewing personal and corporate income tax returns to ensure compliance with the Income Tax Act (ITA) and other regulatory filings (e.g., T4, T5, GST/HST, PST, UHT, EHT).
- Analyzing and resolving complex accounting, tax, and regulatory issues to ensure clients receive accurate and timely solutions.
- Managing the effective use of key software tools (such as Caseware, iFirm, and Docit) for financial statement preparation and tax filings, ensuring the Financial Services (FS) team operates efficiently and with high-quality output.
- Collaborating with Partners, Principals, junior accountants, and clients, ensuring smooth communication and the timely resolution of client matters.
- Leading and coordinating the completion of non-routine and high-priority matters, including significant client reorganization projects and specialized tax or business advisory services.
- Overseeing Financial Statement Quality Control processes, ensuring the integrity and compliance of client deliverables in line with Canadian Quality Management Standards and CPABC Practice Inspections.
- Facilitating Manager Team meetings to ensure alignment, team development, and successful execution of client engagements.
- Mentoring and providing guidance to junior team members, helping them grow and develop professionally while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Working under tight deadlines and ensuring high-quality deliverables while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Contributing to other duties and responsibilities as required to support the firm’s goals and client needs.
Our ideal Senior Manager brings:
- Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 6+ years of relevant public practice experience, post-CPA qualification, in accounting and tax, with demonstrated leadership and expertise in both areas.
- In-depth knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO).
- Proven experience managing and mentoring a team of accountants, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to address complex client issues and provide clear, actionable solutions.
- Expertise in managing multiple engagements simultaneously, thriving in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high standard of work.
- A growth mindset, with a passion for continuous improvement and a commitment to professional development.
- Proficiency in using key accounting software, including Caseware, iFirm, and Docit, to ensure the efficient delivery of services and high-quality client outcomes.
