What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Product Technologist, you’ll be a vital link between Urban Solar’s Engineering and Operations teams, turning product concepts into manufacturable, solar-powered systems. From CAD drawings to documentation and prototyping, your work will support some of North America’s most innovative transit solutions.
Your day-to-day may include:
- Creating and maintaining mechanical/electrical CAD drawings
- Preparing and revising BOMs, work instructions, and test procedures
- Supporting prototypes builds, testing, and production troubleshooting
- Participating in design reviews and engineering change orders
- Responding to technical inquiries from manufacturers and internal teams
- Collaborating across departments to ensure a smooth design-to-production flow

What We’re Looking For:
- Completion of a Technician or Technologist certificate or diploma from a recognized Canadian college or university (minimum program length of 18 months), or an equivalent credential from an internationally recognized institution
- OR a minimum of 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in Canada in a technical role related to product development, manufacturing, or engineering support
- Proficiency in mechanical and/or electrical CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Familiarity with technical documentation, drawings, and schematics
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- A collaborative, adaptable, hands-on mindset
Bonus if You Bring:
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturers or technical vendors
- Knowledge of solar power, lighting systems, or low-voltage electrical assemblies
- Prototyping, testing, or field installation experience
- A “hands-on” learner (a hobbyist who loves to spend time in their shop and works on projects at home
