This is a unique in-office opportunity in Brentwood Bay, BC, for a Payroll Administrator to join our world-renowned client, The Butchart Gardens. A National Historic Site of Canada, The Butchart Gardens is entering its 121st year. They welcome nearly one million visitors each year and continue to be privately owned by the Butchart family.
The Payroll Administrator will join a close-knit Accounting team and will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of salary and hourly payrolls for more than 500 employees during their peak season. The role also includes oversight of the timekeeping database (Kronos), preparation of payroll and benefits reports, and maintaining compliance with legislation and internal policies.

Your day as Payroll Administrator may include:
- Ensuring accuracy and integrity of the Kronos timekeeping database
- Processing salary and hourly payrolls and preparing payroll reports
- Resource for the Payroll Clerk and acting as a backup when needed
- Managing employee setups and terminations in a timely and accurate manner
- Preparing Records of Employment (ROEs), T4s, and payroll-related government remittances (CPP, EI, Income Tax, EHT, WCB)
- Maintaining benefit records and coordinating deductions for medical, dental, pensions, rent and other staff programs
- Responding to payroll-related inquiries from staff members
- Ensuring compliance with all federal and provincial payroll legislation as well as internal policies
- Assisting with various accounting duties as required by the department manager.

Our ideal Payroll Administrator brings:
- 3 years of recent, related payroll experience
- Payroll Compliance Professional certificate completed (or close to completion)
- Payroll Compliance Legislation (PCL) and Payroll Fundamentals 1(PF1) completed
- Completion of Level 1 and 2 accounting courses or equivalent accounting experience
- Familiarity with Kronos or other similar time-keeping systems is an asset
- Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act and the BC PIPA
- Proficient Excel skills
