Are you an experienced Lead Developer who would love to join an established and growing Victoria, BC, SaaS company? We have a brand-new remote role with our nimble client, Delta-X Research. (Preference will be given to candidates based in Victoria or Vancouver.)

As Lead Developer for a small and mighty team you will handle all areas of the technology stack and bring meaningful front-end experience to their team. You will play a crucial role in leading their developers to build and maintain high-quality software products that meet their customer needs. Your responsibilities will include driving technical innovation, guiding the team in architectural decisions, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects in a fast-paced SaaS environment. As Lead Developer, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Product Development team.
  • Architect, design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to improve development processes and enhance product capabilities.
  • Lead, mentor and motivate a team of developers and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. This will include conducting regular performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback to help team members grow in their roles.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and best practices and implement automated testing strategies to maintain software reliability and minimize defects.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated software development experience with a focus on leading and mentoring teams and delivering SaaS solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, etc.).
  • 5+ years of full-stack web experience with modern web development libraries and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in frontend development, with proficiency in technologies such as JavaScript and React.

Beneficial Experience and Knowledge:

  • Modern software development best practices for web applications delivered via SaaS
  • Modern software stack including Linux and Python (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Pandas)
  • Frontend architecture, tools and best practices
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is desirable
  • Web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP, TLS, React

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
