Interchange 360 is a national nonprofit that supports petroleum and automotive product producers in meeting Extended Producer Responsibility requirements through sustainable, transparent, and cost effective stewardship solutions. As the organization expands its footprint, we are searching for a communications leader who can blend strategic vision with hands on execution to support state level launches, beginning with Colorado in 2026.

About the Role:

As the Director of Regional Communications, you will lead all state level communications, education, and outreach across participating jurisdictions. You will build strategies, campaigns, and partnerships that ensure regulatory requirements are met while strengthening public awareness and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, you will work closely with operations, regulatory teams, and state level partners to plan program launches, design education materials, manage vendors, and maintain message consistency across states.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead state specific communications strategies and launch plans, beginning with Colorado
  • Translate regulatory requirements into measurable communication deliverables
  • Develop campaigns, timelines, budgets, media plans, and public awareness materials
  • Build relationships with municipalities, recyclers, regulators, producers, and other stakeholders
  • Oversee the creation of education assets such as signage, toolkits, digital content, and outreach materials
  • Track, report, and evaluate communications activities to support compliance and continuous improvement
  • Manage creative and media vendors to ensure high quality, consistent brand aligned content

What you bring:

  • A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Environmental Policy, or a related field
  • 8+ of progressive experience in communications, ideally in environmental programs, government relations, or regulatory contexts
  • A track record of managing multi-channel campaigns and navigating complex regulatory frameworks
  • Exceptional writing, editing, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience with Extended Producer Responsibility, recycling systems, or environmental compliance is an asset
  • The ability to lead with clarity, collaborate effectively, and roll up your sleeves when needed
